Goats are the comics of the farm. They can also be quite exasperating at times. One thing is for sure.............you need good fences and you can't be too attached to any of your plants or trees. The goats are sure to figure out just which ones to go after when they find their way out of their pasture. They really like to eat. Any time they hear the pickup start, they think it is feeding time and here they come at a full speed run. They aren't real picky about where you feed them. They like their feed in the trough or on the ground. When it is in the trough, someone always thinks she needs to be in the trough too or she might not get her fair share.
Our goat herd has changed a little over time. We no longer have Dairy Goats. Our grandson is in FFA and showing goats for one of his projects. He has 4 show boer goats right now.
We are looking for some Spanish and/or Kiko goats to use as a small commercial herd. Our property has a lot of wild blackberry and plum thickets on it so we need goats that are good browsers to clear the land.
