We finally took the plunge and bought the cattle that we have wanted for years. Spring of 2016 brought many changes for our family. My dad left us to join our heavenly family. We all miss him so much that it is impossible to express. Soon after his passing, I talked to a wonderful lady who was making the hard decision to sell her small herd of Dexter Cows......well guess who just couldn't wait to purchase them......your right.....we are now the proud owners of 3 Dexter cows, and one heifer. We now have 3 calves that my grandson is showing. One heifer and 2 steers. He showed all 3 at the Tulsa State Fair in 2017 and one of his Steers got Reserved Grand Champion. Someday I will have to start looking for a bull, but honestly bulls have always scared me a little so I am not in a hurry to buy one even though I know it will be necessary at some point. The time to buy the cows just seemed right. My Dad was always a cattleman. He loved his cows and spent endless hours caring for them. Now he can see that his favorite place once again has cows grazing in the pasture.
This is Lulu. She is our wonderful, well natured cow.
This is Lana. She is the mother of Keara and Lulu. She is a wonder cow that will be expecting anytime.
